The Chubster

The source of inspiration was a 5’6” Simmons-inspired, dual-finned planning hull that Al Nelson built and rode at Windansea, California in 1956. The dimensions for the Mini-Simmons were taken directly from John Elwell’s original dual keeled Simmons board.

My Mini Simmons is a classic dual keeled planing hull design. This board is an excellent starting point for anyone who wants to have the planing hull experience. It is the widest, flattest, fattest making her the fastest of all the designs in my line. The deeper channel I have added running through the tail from the mid section, allows release and from this she generate speed. I found out by adding this and playing around with this design it worked amazing in UK waves, but since spending time in Hawaii and California she goes in anything the sea can throw at us.

The is NOTHING not to like about this board. . . With everyone who has tried one have bought one so this must say something about her :)

For everyone… Fun fast and a proper head turner… Try her fall in love and be impressed!

  1. Displaced hull nose!

  2. Wide squash tail with a deep single channel running from front foot

  3. Rolled rail for easy turn

  4. Twin fit set on the tail for a skate feel.
